Busy, Busy Bee!

Today was going to be a busy day. The morning started off really early for Susanne because Paxton had a pediatrician's appointment at 8:30 am. She was hoping that the visit would be relatively quick because she needed to be at work by 10:00 am. Paxton was still gaining weight really well. He weighed 12 lbs. 7 oz. His growth curve was moving straight up instead of plateauing. This was great news. His oxygen saturation levels still looked good. They had continued to remain in the mid-eighties for the last couple of months. Unfortunately for Paxton, he would have to get more vaccinations today. Susanne had decided to split them up because of the difficulties he had when they were all given on the same day. Time was running out quickly. Susanne ended up recruiting Moppy to hold Paxton's hand while he received his vaccines because Susanne was going to be late for work.

Susanne rushed out of the pediatrician's office, switched cars, and got on the road. She was a few minutes late, but quickly caught up with her schedule. By the time her lunch break rolled around, she had to get back in the car to head home for another appointment. This time she was meeting with a social worker and a licensed nurse for them to evaluate Paxton and see if he qualified for a skilled nurse to be his primary caretaker when Susanne had to go to work. There was a lot of paperwork to get through and Susanne was on a tight schedule. They finished a little later than Susanne had hoped. Once again, this put her behind schedule by about five minutes. Hopefully, everyone would understand.

Susanne was almost finished for the day. She only had one appointment left before her long weekend would begin. It just so happened that her last appointment was a recheck exam on a cat that had been dealing with chronic, recurrent skin problems. She had been treated multiple times in the past by different veterinarians and nothing seemed to resolve the problem. Susanne had recently found a major secondary infection that she had been treating for a couple of weeks. The infection was looking much better, but the skin lesions had still not completely resolved. Susanne really felt like this cat needed a skin biopsy to determine what exactly was going on. Of course this was a surgical procedure and would take time to complete. Even though this would put a damper in Susanne's schedule, it was what was best for the cat.

Susanne finished up all of her callbacks and paperwork. She was finally headed home. She could not believe that Scott beat her there. When she arrived to the house, Scott was on the couch comforting Paxton. He informed her that when he got home, Paxton appeared uncomfortable. Moppy noticed that he started going downhill after Susanne left for work the second time. He had a rough afternoon where he couldn't get settled. Susanne thought he might have a fever with how he felt and looked. According to the thermometer, she was right. His temperature was 100.3 degrees. He was acting just like he did the first time he received vaccines when Jill was visiting. Since the Tylenol for Infants had been recalled, they did not have much in the way of options to make him feel better. Moppy went to the store to see if they had come out with a safe product that Susanne could use. They weren't so lucky. Scott napped with Paxton on the couch while Susanne packed for the trip. When it was time to load the car, they switched duties. Scott had decided that he would prefer to travel overnight to avoid the heat and the traffic. Also, they were all so excited to get down to see Susanne's family. This would be the first time that Paxton would travel for fun and not to go to a hospital.

It would be a long night, but it would all be worth it tomorrow.

Did you try generic Tylenol? Not affected by the recall and just as efficent. Might be hard to find in some stores due to the shortage?
