Day 27: Surgery's The Coolest

Scott and Susanne made sure that they were at the hospital by 5:45 this morning so that they would get some quality time with Paxton before he was wheeled away to the OR. It's funny how easy it is to get out of bed at 4:15am when there is a good reason to do so.
Susanne was told that she would have a good hour to hold Paxton before the nurses would come to transport him. She really enjoyed talking to him and kissing his head. Scott made sure to take lots of pictures and get some video of Paxton's little baby noises. Scott even got some footage of him crying.
Scott brought Paxton a good luck Care Bear, appropriately named "Good Luck Bear", along with a fun book from his Great Aunt Carol and Uncle Dave called, "I Love You Stinky Face." Scott had a really fun time reading it to Paxton and trying not to laugh.
The time seemed to fly by. Before they knew it, Scott and Susanne were handing Paxton over to the nurses and walking him down to the OR. It was a very emotional experience because Paxton was crying louder than ever before and neither Scott nor Susanne could hold or comfort him.
It then became a waiting game. Susanne was given a pager so that the OR staff could contact her once the procedure has started and once it has finished.

You are all in God's hands, Team Paxton! I'm praying for you and will keep candles lit all day! I hope your morning is filled with positive thoughts - just think, this is the beggining of that simpler life with Paxton by your side!

Love and prayers and hugs from afar!

Love the shades and all the great pics. That was wonderful that you got to spend such quality time with Paxton before his big surgery. I'm sure it was what helped him be so strong. He is probably counting the days before he can be held again just like you all are. We love you!
