Day 33: The Beeper

Scott stumbled upon a new nickname for Paxton today. Ever since he was born, Paxton's been hooked up to a dozen machines, each monitoring one vital sign or another. When a value would elevate or drop below the setting on the machine, an alarm would go off to alert the nurse. Due to the frequency of alarms sounding from Paxton's monitors, Scott called him "Beeper" during a conversation he was having with his son. Susanne was not thrilled at the prospect of her baby being called "Beeper" from now on, but Scott decided to add the new name to his list of other nicknames that Paxton had already acquired.
The reintroduction of Susanne's milk to Paxton's diet became readily apparent today. It felt like a dirty diaper marathon for Scott and Susanne. They came to the realization that Paxton was really proficient at making it known that his diaper was in need of a replacement. If his diaper was clean and he was being held, Paxton was content and quiet. He would either be sleeping or silently scanning his environment with his big brownish-blueish eyes. Sometimes he would whimper or coo, but stop shortly after starting. However, if he started to cry and was unconsolable, then there was a diaper change in order.
It was hard for Scott to think about leaving to return to PA tonight. He usually leaves on Mondays, but this week there is a meeting that he has to be at first thing in the morning. Leaving on Monday would not be an option for him unless he left really early. Next time he has a baby, Scott plans to be in the same state as his family.

So glad you guys had such a wonderful weekend and are getting more and more chances to take care of him. So glad the therapies have been able to start. He is getting closer and closer to coming home and meeting his brown brothers. We can't wait. Keep it up Paxton!

The pictures are so beautiful! But where are his eyebrows???? Just kidding, but that part is so funny to me that I focus on it in every picture so I don't focus on the wires.
You guys are unbelievably strong, and I am in awe of you.
Go Team Paxton!

Paxton is the most adorable thing that I have ever seen! He looks so perfect that it is hard to believe that there is a thing wrong with him! Nothing that the docs can't fix or that God can't heal, though. I just LOVE the pic with the Padilla boys gazing into each other's eyes! Of course, I love ALL of them, especially the family portraits. Don't forget all of the love and prayers coming your way from down here in NC! XOXO
