Late Night With Susanne Padilla

Susanne's morning started extra early today. She had to be dressed and ready to go for the day by 8:00 am because someone was going to stop by and take a look at the washing machine. She was hoping that the problem would be solved and that it would be up and running by the end of the day. After the technician made his assessment, he noted that it was a problem with the control panel. Unfortunately, he would not be able to just replace the control panel by itself. He said that he would have to replace the entire motor. The cost for this was close to what it would cost to buy a new washing machine. It was shocking to Susanne that this washing machine was barely three years old and already needed to be reaplaced. Ridiculous.

After the technician left, Susanne had to prepare for the next appointment that was at 9:00 am. Paxton was finally going to have an evaluation done by an occupational therapist and a physical therapist from Early Intervention. Susanne was hoping that they would be able to help Paxton since no one else had been able to thus far. The therapists spent over an hour getting a complete medical history and working with Paxton. They assessed his developmental status and observed his oral motor skills. They were very knowledgeable and they had a wonderful way with Paxton. At the end of the appointment, they gave Susanne a lot of helpful tips to use over the next two weeks until the next follow up appointment. Susanne was relieved. They were finally getting somewhere.

As soon as the therapists left, Moppy, Susanne, and Paxton had to get on the road so that Susanne would make it to work on time. They got Paxton situated in the nursery and then Susanne started her day. Little did she know that she would not be finishing up until after 11:00 pm. This was frustrating because she needed to pump, she was hungry, Paxton was hungry, her pets were hungry, and she still had to drive home before any of these needs could be met. After a day like today, Susanne really needed only one thing...sleep. She knew that this was not going to be a possibility, but it was nice to think about. A girl can dream, can't she?
