Day 18: Monday It Is

Today, Scott and Susanne talked to the cardiologist in length about Paxton's current condition and status. The surgical procedure scheduled for Monday was also explained in detail along with all of the potential outcomes. Paxton seemed very weak and tired today. He slept throughout our entire visit. He seemed to have to focus much more on his breathing and his heart rate was running a little high. Fortunately, he got in some quality cuddle time with his daddy. Scott was successful again with getting Paxton to suck on the pacifier. We did have a little scare at the end of our visit when Paxton's oxygen levels were very low and he turned blue for a moment. Luckily, our nurses kept their cool the entire time and handled the situation very well.
We were able to take a tour of the PICU this evening, which was helpful. It will be a little bit of an adjustment come Monday because Paxton will be getting a whole new team of doctors, nurses, case managers...etc. Scott and Susanne are trying to prepare mentally and emotionally for the big day. We are requesting that everyone say a little extra prayer for Paxton. We know that he is a fighter and that he is in good hands.
Scott and Susanne decided to end their day with a little Dairy Queen to cheer them up. A Blizzard never hurt nobody.

I know that this seems like a terrible set-back, but you know that it is normal for that shunt to close after birth. I know that the doctors probably wanted to wait until he was as strong as possible before doing surgery, but I am so thankful that neonatology has advanced to the point that they can even contemplate doing surgery on such a tiny baby. You are right that he is in good medical hands, but he will also be in the arms of Jesus and surrounded by His angels during the surgery. They will also be there to comfort you while you wait for the surgery to be finished. All of our love and prayers will be with you! By the way, they have a special prayer service at Trinity each week and it just happens to be on Monday. I will ask Pastor Chris today to pray specifically for Paxton and his entire family tomorrow.

Scott and Susanne,
I am supporting you and Paxton in prayer this a.m. and will take the news of his surgery to our Executive Board today. I know that many have you in their thoughts and prayers. May you feel God's loving arms around you all through the day today.

dear suzanne and scott, this is your mom's first cousin, lynda, in milwaukee. i have been keeping up with your blog and i just learned how to write to you here. thank you so much for the detailed updates. there is no doubt in my heart that paxton is a very strong soul. he is intuitively following the needs of his body. he is sleeping because that is where his healing resides. his body is running on quantum energy. he is tuned into the source of all energy. he is manifesting perfect healing which only he knows is true. you cannot see it until the outcome is complete. he is working the process. he is strong and a body of great information. know that with all of us holding his healing and wellness in our hearts which are one with his heart that the outcome will be perfect, whatever that perfection looks like.

please feel my Love and Compassion flowing directly into your Heart which is the One Heart of all Love and Compassion.

love, lynda kimmel
