Day 3: The Blizzard

The weathermen had been calling for a huge snow storm to hit our area today, and they were right! At 9am the white stuff started falling and it still hasn't stopped! They were calling for around 2 feet of snow during this storm. It looks like we're going to get that much, maybe more.
We were given some great news today by the social worker. We were approved to stay at the Ronald McDonald House, which is a charitable organization that provides housing for families of children being treated at the hospital. The house is located on the hospital property and provides everything you could possibly need so that you can focus on your child's care. The best part is that there is a free shuttle that runs directly from the house to the NICU. This was a lifesaver today given the nasty weather. We didn't have to drive in the snow once!
Paxton was no longer in isolation when we arrived this morning. It was so amazing to be able to touch him without gloves on for the first time. Paxton's nurses were wonderful. They allowed us to be really interactive with his care today, including giving him a sponge bath, taking his temperature (in his armpit), and Scott changing his first diaper ever! Paxton made sure to make his poop extra sticky for his dad.
We read "The Going to Bed Book" to Paxton and sat with him until he fell asleep. The most wonderful part of today was that Paxton's eyes were open and he looked at us both.
Today was an overall good day. We are now staying at the Ronald McDonald House. It is really nice being so close to Paxton.
