Mystery Pain

Even though Paxton and Susanne got in late last night, Paxton didn't sleep well. He was even up before Susanne's alarm clock to get ready for work, which was unusual. Susanne was startled by Paxton's cry from the other room. It was the loudest, most distressful sound she had ever heard him make. She popped right up out of bed to see what was going on. She thought he had to be hurt or maybe even fell out of his crib somehow. When she checked on him, he still had his eyes closed. It was like he was having a night terror or something. She couldn't figure out if he had refluxed causing a burning sensation in his esophagus or was it an upset stomach from gas that had built up. She first woke him up so that he could come to and realize that his mommy was right there for him. She tried singing, talking sweetly, rubbing his back, burping him, rocking him, but nothing worked. She had to call for help because she had no access to anything that she needed and Paxton was still connected to his feeding. Scott eventually heard her and came to the rescue. He brought the supplies in for venting his G-tube to relieve any gas that had built up from him swallowing air. After that didn't provide any relief, she tried a combo of Little Noses drops followed by suctioning out his nasal passages. Still no response. They couldn't rule out the possibility of it being pain from teething, but that would be odd since he hadn't been like this before. Susanne and Scott just had to wait it out. Paxton eventually ran out of steam and fell back asleep. They would probably never figure out the mystery, but they were just glad that he was peaceful again. They couldn't think of anything they hated more in the world than their sweet angel in pain.
